What is PAYE registration?
A: Pay As You Earn (PAYE) is when your employer deducts a portion of the income from the employee’s monthly salary. This must be paid to SARS on a monthly basis. Each employee is required to be registered for PAYE. So basically, if you have a company or employer who employs people and you pay them a salary every month you must register for PAYE with SARS. Only if your company or business is registered for PAYE you must submit a monthly PAYE (EMP201) form which must be filed and submitted to SARS before the 7th of each month. If you do not submit the PAYE on the date its due SARS will add penalties.
Q: When do i have to register for PAYE?
A: It’s a monthly deduction that gets done by the employer from the employees monthly salary, wages and bonuses and this deduction gets paid to SARS monthly. Pay As You Earn (PAYE) is required by law to deduct the correct amount which the employer’s are required to contribute.
Q: When do I need to pay PAYE?
A: As soon as the salary reach the amount of R6917.00, there will be a deduction, according to the SARS Tax tables. This amount change every year after the Budget speech of the President.
Q: When is the EMP501’s due?
A: There are 2 EMP501’s due per year
Q: When is PAYE due?
A: The payment must reflect in the bank account of SARS on the 7th of the month after the payroll.Every 7th of the following month.
